Last day in Germany

We set the alarm for the first time so that we could check out -- Tom picked us up, and we had our final German breakfast. We had said goodby to Martina and the children the night before because she had to work and the boys were in kindergarten. Tom got some chores done while we ate our breakfast and chatted. Then we went to a parking lot, and Tom picked up a rental car for 3 hours -- it's the newest thing in cities. They have only one car, so this worked perfectly for getting us and our luggage to the train. We also had lunch ( 2 hours after breakfast,of course) sitting outside - lovely. Tom also got a bit of a wine bath during lunch - but it was only white wine compliments of my trying to tear apart a piece of bread.

Anyway, he walked us to the train station and showed us where to find our train car number. We got on the train successfully and 4 hours later we arrived in Amsterdam.

Here we are reflected in an outgoing train in Germany.

I took a picture when we first crossed the border into Holland.
Just lost about 15 minutes' worth of typing -- arrggh. So anyway, we arrived in Amsterdam at 7:10 and wound our way through narrow, cobble-stoned streets (complete with high 20-somethings) to our hotel. After checking in, we went in search of a good place for beer. I found a possibility on Trip Advisor, and in no time we were on out way. Along the route there was fun street art.

And our choice was great - named after a character from Lord of the Rings and everything
The selections were varied and fun.
There was even a special Lotr beer.
And the cheese plate was a perfect dinner for us!
Bob had some Westfalle beer.
It was an easy walk back to the hotel, and I watched a little bit of the Germany Algeria match before going to bed.
